Majorca, above all, means a lot of sun. summer and winter weather is dominated mainly by clear skies. Even when it rains, hardly a day goes by without changing clouds, which also show the sun. the Mediterranean climate of the Balearic Islands is determined by the guarantor, sunlight. So why not capture this as an essential and therefore very nice and clever design element, create a game of hide and seek and seek out the shadow and gaze.
Let the sunlight flood the interior and give the façade the reduced transparency that allows visual communication with the surroundings and yet also, where desired, conditioned. a carefree life from the inside with a view to the outside, which makes your own garden totally tangible even in the neighboring residential area. During the day, the sunlight is the protagonist and when the moon is full, it is night.
It is precisely because of the Mediterranean climate that you spend most of your time in front of the door. life on the inside is becoming a time to stay outside. under the porch, by the pool or in the garden, under a pergola or gazebo. But what if the exterior cannot be characterized by large garden areas or outdoor seating? Is the enclosed space much larger in proportion than the remaining area of the property allows for an exterior design?
then the interior should become even more exterior. then, architectural concepts should help to optimize climatic conditions and create qualities in a confined space that make the interior look outward as well. Break boundaries and create fluid spaces. at best, areas of functions that intersect and overlap. the interior space is perceived as the exterior space.
What could be more natural than to relate this design concept to use? open and flexible use of space with overlapping spatial structures.
A softening of the own restrictions related to the materials of the building. a requirement for the greatest possible freedom of movement and wide visual transparency. inside as a canopy with a protective cover that can be moved in terms of air conditioning.
an architectural “minimalism” (although I don’t like the word at all) results from the omission of solitary and superfluous facade elements. there are only simple and puristic surfaces that encompass components, with no framed embellishments, but a reduction to the essential and necessary. soft shadow. knowledge and perspectives. the sun’s rays penetrating far away create a feeling of comfort and warmth. shading creates cooling and a feeling of protection.
They evoke – NICE – continuous silhouettes on the walls. architecture seems to be in constant motion. The ceramic shaped bricks used are deep bricks that provide good shade in summer when the sun is shining and high. in winter, when the sun is low, the sun’s rays penetrate the same ceramic and flood the interior – SMART – with light and warmth. Insights and perspectives are given at the best of right angles.
What is really minimalist about project 2106 is its reduction to a few materials. Therefore, we see a desire to use the few materials in as many different areas as possible as a design guide. either in the shell of the facade or in the interior work. Same material for stairs and furniture.
The interior architecture seems minimalist in function, so to speak, in its combination of identical design elements for the interior and exterior, which were carefully chosen in a pure and simple way, tied to function. the interior walls, made with the same ceramic modules, repeat the division of the rooms, even the furniture and built-in wardrobes are made with the same prefabricated solid wood elements.
the floors are made of seamless terrazzo with your own color or wood, like the interior wall panels. iridescent glass parapets are alternately made from a special colored foil and also give the building a huge variety of colored light reflections that permeate the entire building. the folding elements of the facade in front of the generous sliding doors are designed as perforated panels. its perforations correspond to those of the openings of the ceramic stone segments.
